Option 2: From the Groups Table
In the groups table, click the gear icon in the “Actions” column for the group you want to edit.
Editable Properties
Name
Change the group’s unique identifier. The name must:
- Be unique within your organization
- Contain only a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and dashes
- Be maximum 64 characters
Description
Update the group’s description to better reflect its current purpose or membership.
Organization Role
Change the role assigned to the group. Available roles:
- Global Contributor - Can create and manage packages and Tracked Workspaces
- Global Viewer - Read-only access
Changing a group’s role immediately affects all members. All users, client secrets, and nested groups will inherit the new role.
Saving Changes
- Make your desired changes to the group properties
- Click “Save Changes” to apply the modifications
- The changes take effect immediately
Impact of Role Changes
When you change a group’s organization role:
- All direct members (users and client secrets) immediately get the new permissions
- All nested groups’ members also receive the new permissions
If you need to temporarily restrict a group’s access, consider changing its role to Viewer rather than removing all members.
